Get help
- Open Settings. Under App version, press Copy diagnostic report. It copies your version, your setup and the recent log, with transcripts and anything that looks like a key or token taken out.
- Paste it into #help on our Discord, or email it to hello@loremonkey.com, with a line about what you were doing.
If LoreMonkey won’t open far enough to reach Settings, send the log file instead. It’s at %APPDATA%\LoreMonkey\loremonkey-backend.log. Paste that path into the File Explorer address bar to find it.
LoreMonkey won’t start
| You see | Fix |
|---|---|
| LoreMonkey could not start its engine | Antivirus may have quarantined part of LoreMonkey, or the install is incomplete. Restore it from your antivirus quarantine, or reinstall. |
| LoreMonkey’s engine did not finish starting | If your antivirus asked about LoreMonkey, allow it and open LoreMonkey again. |
| Connecting to your account… that doesn’t go away | LoreMonkey can’t reach our server to confirm your plan, so sessions are paused. It retries on its own. Check your internet connection and press Retry. Continue without AI lets you keep using everything that runs on your PC. |
Audio and transcription
| You see | Fix |
|---|---|
| A meter says no signal, or the activity log says very quiet: check the selected input | The input is the wrong device, or the sound goes somewhere else. Pick the device you actually hear through. See Set up your audio. |
| A meter says can’t open | Another app is holding the device, or it was unplugged. Pick another, or close the other app. |
| The live transcript falls behind | Set Transcription quality to Faster. On an NVIDIA PC, enable GPU acceleration from Setup guide. |
| The GPU pack won’t install | It needs an NVIDIA graphics card and a recent NVIDIA driver. Update the driver from NVIDIA and try again. LoreMonkey works without it. |
| Names come out wrong | Fix each one once in Spellings. |
| No speaker names | Speaker names come from Discord. Check Discord shows as connected on the Session tab. A table playing in person, around one microphone, gets a transcript without speaker names. |
| A session vanished after a crash | It didn’t. Look for Unfinished session on the Session tab and press Finish. See Run a session. |
Discord’s own error messages are listed in Connect Discord.
AI features
| You see | Fix |
|---|---|
| You’ve reached your plan’s limit for now | Your AI allowance is used up for now. Everything on your PC keeps working. See Plans, the AI allowance and credits. |
| Claude, the AI behind LoreMonkey, is having an outage | The AI service LoreMonkey uses is down. Recording, transcripts and your notes still work. The banner links to Claude’s status page, and goes away when it recovers. |
| Couldn’t check this moment, so check-ins are paused in red | The step that decides when to offer an idea isn’t answering. Check-ins come back on their own when it does. |
| Ask says something isn’t in your notes | The session it’s about may not be in memory yet. See Ask LoreMonkey. |
| The Compendium is empty | Entries come from names written in bold in your notes. See Use the Compendium. |
| A feature says it’s included from Standard up | It’s part of a bigger plan. See Plans. |
