Where entries come from
The Compendium isn’t a second set of notes. It’s a view of your four notes files: every name written in bold, or as its own heading, becomes an entry. For example:
- **Marla Venn:** fixer, runs the Sokombo contract.**Ironcloaks:** mercenary company led by Balgor.
Plain sentences and unbolded lists aren’t read as entries. Notes LoreMonkey writes for you already use this shape. In your own notes, the + Entry button on the Character & Campaign tab writes one for you.
Because it’s a view, editing an entry here edits your notes, and the change reaches suggestions, recaps and your Obsidian export with nothing to keep in step.
Look something up
- Search at the top of the list finds names, other spellings and descriptions.
- Ctrl+K opens a quick search from anywhere in LoreMonkey, including the Session tab mid-game. Type a few letters, press Enter, and you’re on the entry.
- Filters show one kind at a time (the party, people, NPCs, places, factions, threads, items, gods) or only entries that are Pinned, Never spoken at the table, Has links, or Needs attention.
- Sort by name, times spoken, last spoken or connections.
Searching, browsing and editing are free on every plan.
Read and edit an entry
An entry shows its description, its kind, how often and when it was mentioned in your sessions, and everything it’s connected to. Names of other entries in a description become links.
- Pin keeps an entry at the top of the list.
- Tags group entries your own way.
- Relationships connect two entries, such as “ally of” or “parent of”. Choose Other… to write your own, like “married to”.
- Edit… changes the name, what it is, the description, other names it goes by (Also called) and tags.
Add what’s missing
- New entry adds one by hand.
- No result? When a search finds nothing called that, LoreMonkey offers to search your notes and transcripts for the word, for free. If it was said at the table, you can add it to the campaign from there.
- Find missing entries reads your transcripts for people and places your notes never wrote down, and lets you choose which to add. It uses your AI allowance and is included from Standard up.
The timeline
Timeline, at the top of the Compendium, shows what happened in your campaign in the order it happened.
- Build the timeline reads your recaps and notes and proposes events. Nothing is added until you confirm the ones you want. Building uses your AI allowance and is included from Standard up. Reading it is free.
- Add an event writes one by hand.
- Filter by who was involved, or open an entry to see only its events.
- Each event links back to the recap it came from or its place in your notes.
Names spelled wrong
If a name was misheard or written two ways, fix it once in Spellings. See Fix misheard names.
