An evening with LoreMonkey
This is the short version, so you know what to expect. Each step has its own guide further on that shows you how to do it.
- Before the game, you tell LoreMonkey about your campaign: your character, or your plans as the game master, the party and the world so far. It keeps these as plain notes you can read and edit.
- During the game, it listens to your table, through Discord or a microphone, and writes a live transcript on your PC. If you play on Discord, each line is labelled with the character who said it.
- While you play, it can offer a short idea when a moment calls for one: a line for your character, a question to ask, a thread you forgot. You choose how often, or turn this off.
- After the game, you decide what to do with the evening: a recap in your group’s style, a memory LoreMonkey can answer questions from, and suggested updates to your notes for you to approve.
- Between games, you can ask it what happened (“what did we promise the smith?”), look up any character or place in the Compendium, and bring in old recordings and notes.
It works for any tabletop roleplaying game. You set the game system per campaign, so recaps and suggestions use the right words.
What is free and what uses the AI allowance
Everything that runs on your PC is free on every plan, with no limit:
- recording and transcribing sessions, including imported recordings
- Discord speaker labels
- searching your notes and transcripts, the Compendium and the timeline you already have
- fixing names, exporting transcripts and Obsidian export
The AI allowance pays for the parts written by a language model: live suggestions, recaps, adding sessions to memory, note updates, campaign files written from your documents, Ask LoreMonkey and finding names your notes are missing. Every plan comes with some, and the Free plan includes a free trial of it. Plans, the AI allowance and credits has the details.
Where your game goes
Audio is transcribed on your PC and never uploaded. When an AI feature runs, LoreMonkey sends only the text that feature needs, such as the last few minutes of transcript for a suggestion. Your campaigns, transcripts and recordings are kept on your PC. Privacy has the full list.
