What a suggestion is
Now and then during a session, a card appears under Suggestions with a short idea: a line your character could say to an NPC, a question worth asking, a secret or goal of yours that just became relevant, or a thread the table forgot. As a game master, you get ideas for your NPCs and for the players’ hooks.
Suggestions are about the story and the people in it. LoreMonkey isn’t fed your game’s rules, so it doesn’t advise on tactics or abilities.
Every minute, a small, fast model reads the last few minutes and decides whether an idea would help right now. Only then does LoreMonkey write one. Most minutes it just keeps listening, and the activity log says so.
Guidance
Set Guidance above the activity log before you start:
| Level | What you get |
|---|---|
| Off | No ideas on their own, and nothing spent deciding. The transcript, recaps and notes work as usual. |
| Light | Speaks up only for a clear opening, at least 10 minutes apart. |
| Balanced | Also suggests lines and questions when a character is talking with you or your group, and reminds you of your own secrets and goals when they matter. At least 5 minutes apart. |
| Hands-on | Offers something at most moments, as often as every few minutes. |
More guidance can use your allowance faster. Balanced suits most tables.
Check-in quality sets the model that writes each idea. Automatic uses the detailed one and switches to Economical, which costs about a third as much, if your allowance is running out too fast.
Check in
During a session, press Check in whenever you want an idea about the moment you’re in. It always answers, even with Guidance set to Off.
Rate what you get
Each card has Useful and Not useful buttons. Not useful asks why, with reasons like already said it, wrong moment, too obvious or not my character, and an optional note. We read these to see where suggestions miss: Not useful sends the reason, your note and the suggestion it was about. Useful is sent as a count only.
Topics LoreMonkey leaves alone
If LoreMonkey keeps coming back to something you’ve dealt with, press Not useful and choose already said it. It stops bringing that topic up. You can see, add and remove these topics in Settings → Memory → Topics LoreMonkey leaves alone, for example “my character’s missing brother”.
Sound and notifications
Tick Sound to hear a short chime when a suggestion appears, and Notify for a Windows notification while LoreMonkey is in the background behind Discord or your game.
Reading the activity log
The activity log shows what LoreMonkey is doing, minute by minute: listening when there’s nothing to add, waiting to see how it lands while a roll or a reveal plays out, and the reason whenever it speaks up. A red line means something needs you, such as an input that sounds very quiet.
