Open Recap settings
Each campaign has its own recap settings. Open them from any of these:
- Settings on a recap you’ve just written on the Session tab
- Recap settings on a session in Settings → Memory
- Recaps on the campaign in Settings → Campaigns
Length
| Length | What you get |
|---|---|
| Brief | Two or three short paragraphs. The main beats only. |
| Standard | Five or six solid paragraphs for a full evening, with the names, places and decisions kept in. |
| Detailed | Every scene in order: who was there, what was said that mattered, what was decided, found or lost. |
Sections
Tick the sections you want. Each one becomes a heading in the recap:
- Overview: one paragraph of what happened
- Scene by scene: a short synopsis of each scene, in order
- People and places
- Story threads and hooks
- Gains and losses
- Bigger picture
Leave them all unticked for a written account in paragraphs.
Writing style to copy
Recaps copy the voice of one example: point of view, tone, how entries open. Length and sections still come from the settings above.
- Your session notes uses a passage from your own notes. The window shows exactly which passage.
- An example I paste in uses a write-up you paste, such as the best recap anyone in your group has written.
- No example writes in LoreMonkey’s own voice.
Anything else
A free box for anything the settings don’t cover, such as “Start every recap with The one with…”, “Write it in present tense” or “Always say who the party is travelling with”.
Press Save. The settings apply to the next recap you write.
Rewrite an old recap
Open the session in Settings → Memory, choose the Recap tab, and press Rewrite. LoreMonkey writes it again with the current settings. If the rewrite fails, the old recap stays.
Find and share recaps
- Past recaps on the Session tab opens any earlier recap.
- Copy puts a recap on your clipboard, ready to paste into your group chat.
- Game master recaps are written for prep: the threads that moved, hooks and loose ends.
Lines in the transcript that were hard to make out are left out of recaps.
